50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing

The 1960s and 1970s saw NASA send nine space missions to the moon. During those decades astronauts from six of those missions landed safely on the moon's surface. The United States' Apollo 11 was the first manned lunar mission to land on the moon. The date was July 20, 1969.
