God’s creations profess good to us
I have just returned from vacation. This trip was on mine and Susan’s bucket list. (Just to clear things up, Susan is my wife of 36 years.) We traveled to Alaska. We took a lot of pictures; it was absolutely stunning and breathtaking.
But there was more than the scenery going on there. As I was looking at the majestic mountains and the awesome power of the sea, I realized that before my eyes, Luke 19:40 was being fulfilled.
During the triumphant entry, Jesus was asked to calm his followers down. They were shouting “Hosanna” and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”. Jesus’ response was “I tell you that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” My friends, the stones were shouting out the greatness of God there in Alaska.
Sometimes, we miss sensing God’s presence among us. In my case, it took a change of perspective to connect with the awesome power of God once again. Looking at those mountains, and the wildlife just made you realize how big God is. The whales are huge and the glaciers beyond belief.
But, as we flew back into Missouri, and came home, I again recognized the rocks crying out. Our Ozarks are older than the mountains we saw in the north. We have sights and wonders that proclaim the very power of God. There is wonder here in Southeast Missouri. We have gurgling springs of sizes that the north cannot even dream of. We have caves and wonders Alaskans can only imagine.
You see, we live in a world that was created by our loving and omnipotent God. Every tree, every stone, every blade of grass proclaims the majesty of God our father. The very heavens declare His handy work.
Even after the voices of the people were silenced, Nature continued to proclaim the sovereignty of God.
As this summer begins, I ask you to not forget to proclaim and recognize the greatness of our creator. The activities of Summer will put you in places that will show God awesomeness. Experience it, grab hold of it, and join the chorus that proclaims God’s goodness.
Then, take it to church. Don’t neglect worship. Be a part of what the church is offering, so that others can recognize God’s grace and goodness in their lives. Share your testimony and praise God in all you do.
When you get out to the river, or at the camp, invite others to church. Be sure to point to all that God is doing in your life and in His creation.
Yes, Alaska was awesome and overwhelming. It took seeing creation on such a grand scale for me to recognize creation on a grand scale in Missouri. God has blessed this land, and creation continues to proclaim His greatness.
Summer is a great time to worship and praise God, don’t forget to fill the church, pray, and study. God is good and His creation professes that to us every day.
Shalom my friends.
See you in church.
