In God’s love we have a sure foundation
Well, this has been an interesting summer! We have seen things that have been preached in churches for many, many years coming to pass right before our eyes. However, this article is not going to be about that today. I feel you have heard and have read enough about the spiritual heaviness that we have experienced. Today, I would like to remind you about the God we serve and how awesome he is!
It was earlier this week that in the midst of everything that is going on in this world, I prayed to God for direction in how he wants me to lead his church and what he wants me to say to my community. That is when this thought crossed my mind. “Remind them again of my love, power and faithfulness.” I prayed, “Lord may not my message to my community be a message of reaction. Lord, let my message be a message of hope. And that is when it happened, I opened the word of God and not by plan but literally in the world’s standards an accident or a coincidence to Isaiah 40:28.
More often than not, things that seem to happen by accident are actually divine appointments from God. It reads in Isaiah; “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Verse 29 continues; “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” The scriptures tell us that everything has a season. Life has a cycle. Grass dies, flowers fall, relationships will cease but one thing will always remain. The heavens and the earth will pass away but the word of God will remain forever.
How do you restore hope? You focus on what is everlasting. C.S. Lewis said; “Everything that is not eternal is worthless in eternity.” We need to focus on what is everlasting. So what in your life is everlasting? God’s love for you is everlasting. Now, the trick is the knowledge of that being something that you just know. I know God loves me.” When we take this profound truth and we allow it to become wisdom in our lives, we now walk our lives in the truth of God’s Love, I used to know that God loves me but now through the things that God has allowed me to go through during my life, I now know nothing in all creation can separate me from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord.
For when you are weak, then you are strong in Christ. When people see weakness in us we have to learn how to delight in that weakness instead of being defensive and insecure. It is in those areas of our lives that we must realize that we need an extra measure of God’s Grace. God’s love is everlasting and in his love we will have a sure foundation and also be able to offer those around us a sure foundation.
